TEAMS REPRESENTING THE MAYFIELD
In 2010/11 Mayfield A (Captain Peter Lee) won the Affiliated League Central Division 1, just ahead of Mayfield B (Captain Alan Bailey), and went on to win the Final. Mayfield D (Captain Andrew Barnett) won Division 2. In 2011/12, the Affiliated and Premier Leagues have merged into a new County League. In Division 1 it is a close race between a team including Peter Lee and one including Ian Swanson and Bill Hodgkiss. A team captained by Roger Sugden has won Section 2 of Division 2 with a match in hand, and a team captained by Keith Jackson will win Section 3 of Division 3, barring a very heavy last round loss.
The Mayfield team that won the Surrey Affiliated Teams of 8 in January 2011, failed to get past the regional stage of the Garden Cities. In January 2012 our team came 3rd in the Surrey Affiliated Teams of 8..
Mayfield A (Captain Peter Lee) and B (Bernard Pike) are both out of the NICKO, but B are still in the plate.
I am not aware of other notable successes by Mayfield members, though apologies if I have missed some.
I am now retiring as Captain after nine years, and wish Roger Morton, my successor, every success.
