Secretary's Report for Year to 31st March 2008

I have enjoyed working alongside Sylvia again and the Club has thrived well under her Chairmanship. She runs a good ship with a happy and willing crew. Needless to say, she has continued with all her previous jobs doing scoring, supply of refreshments etc. in addition to her extra duties as Chairman.

I have plodded on with the same tasks as in previous years but have gained a little more expertise from Malcolm to assist in maintaining the website. We now also have Roger Sugden to full speed on the same functions together with Chris Pullan able to score and load hands so we try to take as much from Malcolm as we can.

Having said that, we missed Malcolm greatly during his 'sick leave' over recent months and are very pleased to see him back in full force

Thanks to all those who help with the setting-up and clearing of tables. It is greatly appreciated that there are so many willing helpers. A particular thank you too from me to the ladies who do so much to help with the Christmas party food - and to our very special helper, George.

Please keep me informed throughout the year of any change in address, telephone or your email address. I shall email the AGM notice and renewal form to all those on my e-mailing list to reduce the paperwork.

My best wishes to all members for the 2008/9 bridge year and, in particular, I wish every success to those players who will represent the Mayfield next year in both the National & County competitions.
